Joshua M. Daniels, M. Div.
On October 6, 2021, the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Los Angeles, CA, elected the Reverend Joshua M. Daniels as their 15th Senior Pastor. Mount Zion is a venerable and internationally recognized congregation with a rich and distinctive 129-year history, where the late Dr. E.V. Hill served as Pastor for 42 years.
Frequently deemed one of his generation's leading voices, Pastor Daniels preaches expository messages that are biblically based, theologically sound, doctrinally focused, culturally relevant, and prophetically accurate. His unique style of communicating the Gospel has gained him recognition and invitations across the nation.
Pastor Daniels preached his first sermon at the tender age of 6 and began his pastoral ministry at age 19.
In preparation for his pastoral assignment at Mount Zion, Pastor Daniels served as the Senior Pastor of Rising Sun Baptist Church in Beaumont, TX (2013-2016), the historic Damascus Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, TX (2016-2018), and also as Founder and Senior Pastor of Freedom Worship Assembly Baptist Church in Houston, TX (2018-2021).
In a short time, God has blessed the partnership of Pastor and People between Pastor Daniels and the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. The "ole Ship of Zion" continues to grow and flourish spiritually, numerically, and financially under the leadership of Pastor Daniels. But, for this congregation, the best is truly yet to come, and as Pastor Daniels has coined, "It's Up From Here!"
He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Houston Graduate School of Theology in Houston, TX. In addition, he serves as the Assistant Recording Secretary of the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America. He holds the distinction of being the youngest cabinet member ever appointed in the history of the Convention.
Pastor Daniels has traveled extensively across the country and is considered a much sought-after speaker. Pastor Daniels has served regularly as a revivalist, conference speaker, and seminar instructor. He is also a published author.
Pastor Daniels considers his family both his most precious and primary responsibility. He is the loving and committed husband of First Lady Arianna S. Daniels, and they are proud parents of Jarrington M. Daniels and Joshua M. Daniels, II. The couple is expecting their third child in the Fall of 2022.
The words of the Apostle Paul in Colossians 1:28-29 (ESV) can reflect his life's passion, purpose, and priority, "Him we preach, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this, I toil, struggling with all his energy that He powerfully works within me."
