Meet Our Pastor

Joshua M. Daniels

On October 6, 2021, Pastor Joshua M. Daniels was elected as the Senior Pastor of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Los Angeles, CA; a church with a rich and distinctive 129 year history, where the late Dr. E.V. Hill served as Pastor for 42 years.

Frequently deemed as one of the leading voices of his generation, Pastor Daniels preaches expository messages that are biblically based, theologically sound, doctrinally focused, culturally relevant, and prophetically accurate. His unique style of communicating the Gospel has gained him recognition and invitations across the nation.

Pastor Daniels preached his first sermon at the tender age of 6 years old, and began his pastoral ministry at age 19.

Prior to serving Mount Zion, Pastor Daniels served as the Senior Pastor of Rising Sun Baptist Church in Beaumont, TX (2013-2016), the historic Damascus Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, TX (2016-2018), and also as Founder and Senior Pastor of Freedom Worship Assembly Baptist Church in Houston, TX (2018-2021).

He is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Houston Graduate School of Theology in Houston, TX and serves as the Assistant Recording Secretary of the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America. He holds the distinction of being the youngest cabinet member ever appointed in the history of the Convention.

Pastor Daniels has traveled extensively across the country, and is considered to be a much sought after speaker. Pastor Daniels has served regularly as a revivalist, conference speaker, and seminar instructor. He is also a published author.

Pastor Daniels is the proud father of Jarrington M. Daniels and Joshua M. Daniels, II. He considers his family both his most precious and primary responsibility, and he is committed to living a life of Integrity, Influence, and Impact!

His life’s passion, purpose, and priority can be summed up in the words of the Apostle Paul in Colossians 1:28-29, “Him we preach, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that He powerfully works within me.” (ESV)
